when people flirt, like, dropping hints that they like you and attracted to you, but doesn't really tell you straight that they are... is it their way of playing a "safe" game, to avoid rejection or what?

Sometimes, no.
Flirting is indeed a sign of attraction and, unless the person hesitates, it is not difficult to notice. A common rejection to such flirtation would be an apparent avoidance, or ignorance, of the other person who may intentionally make the flirting person feel the rejection. The rejection may not be heard verbally but can be absorbed by observation of negative responses made by the other person, and, therefore, may hurt, too... but silently.

Yeah, testing the water, noone wants to be rejected, however some do just get to the point, and some take offense to that because that person didn't try hard enough.

i'd say i flirt quite a bit (@ least whenever possible). i think tha reason i flirt is tha reason you said & because i'm insecure. insecure people often flirt (even when involved) jus 2 c if people r attracted 2 them.

I just do it for kicks. Most of the time, I am not even that interested. But I can totally see where you are going and you are probably rite.

I thought flirting was a form of playing the field to get attention. (I feel so nieve.)
