As an Asian you may want to look at NYC or San Francisco. I am not a big fan of the South I like the Northeast.

From Hong Kong - I agree, I'd try San Francisco in the US or Vancouver, British Columbia in Canada or Minneapolis. Carolina doesn't have a diverse population and Hong Kong is a huge, cosmopolitan city. You are gonna be homesick big time. Move somewhere that's relatively similar. If it's for a job - and it's only for a short time, that's different. If you're full out emmigrating - i'd pick a different location

South Carolina's ok. I think somewhere in Virgina would be nicer. I've always been interested in Norfolk, VA. Lot's to see there.

Atlanta, Georgia is a nice area to live if you like the large city life, but don't want the craziness of New York city.

I've always liked Northern Ohio. Any city along the Lake Erie shoreline. I like the idea of being near a big body of water, yet not have to worry about hurricanes (typhoons) every year.

I don't know much about Hong Kong or even if it gets any snow... But if you would like to live in a place that gets hit every winter with amazing amounts of snow, try Rochester New York. They get lake effect snows that they measure in feet not inches. It's just wild.

Well, whatever you choose I just want to wish you the best of luck on your move, and welcome to America!

Good major city for you would be Chicago. Better than L.A. or New York, for cost of living and city will provide you things that you had in Hong Kong. After you've been in Chicago you could always vacation in Cities in South Carolina to check them out.
BUT, if you come to Chicago bring or buy warm clothes for winter. It gets very cold here but then there's no mosquito's to bother you! Good luck and may you find true happiness is this great country.

Why not try Virginia, or Michigan, New York, California,Alabama or Florida? Those are all beautiful places to live , but it's entirely up to you! Why don't you do some research on these states and make your decision ! Iwouldn't move to South Carolina it's a little one sided when it comes to your ethnic background, so please carefully consider this when thinking of moving to South Carolina!

Don't rule out the west coast states. If you have skills, a profession and work hard, you'll find plenty of support. Asians have been in California for so long, own so many successful businesses, hold important offices, that you won't find it difficult to fit in there. Successful people there prefer to hang out with other successful, hard working, sharp thinking people, and race/nationality/religion is never an issue with them. Wherever you decide to land, live long and prosper...and hang-out with successful, creative people....
