Because sometimes Fact is stranger than Fiction.

People don't like to hear the truth because sometimes it contradicts with what they want. As we all know, sometimes the truth can hurt, so some of us like to live in denial. So, in a sense, not wanting to hear the truth is like a defense mechanism against hurt feelings. People don't like to tell the truth because of basically the same reason; they don't want to hurt the other person's feelings.

Truth usually challenges everyone to make adjustments in some kind of way. Most people would rather be challenged on their own terms at the time they would prefer, but truth doesn't always flow that way so people become uncomfortable. And knowing what the effect and possible impact of truth can have on a person also carries a burden of responsibility.

First of all excellent question, and best one I have seen so far. Why didn't I think of it, oh well, you did. :)

At this point in time of the uh, experience of the human, and perhaps for all time since conscientious developed, we have gained the ability to contemplate our existence, and the inherent threat of it, i.e. our mortality/reality.

The truth is most bitter and frightening. You have to look at the big picture. Rape, torture, murder, poverty, starvation, abuse; the knowledge that any moment could be our last. Selfishness, greed, the fight for survival.

We humans are very attached to the notion that we are separate, above and different from nature. The truth is that we are under the same laws of nature as everything else on this planet.

As humans we have the capacity for imagination, so we create our ideals of what should be. However in actuality, life is a very vulnerable and fleeting thing, and all that we know that we have for sure.

Pain is something we have deemed unnecessary, because we believe we are above it, but it is the escape from pain that drives us deeper away from the reality.

We are feeling creatures as any others, but we feel we have an entitlement to be free from pain. It is this sense of superiority over the reality of nature that creates the delusion of a world free from pain. Pain is and serves it's purpose, but we have lost our connection to reality and dream of a pain free utopia, where we can hide from the very scary truth.

That is a rather vague question truth about what ?
Telling it now that is easy because it is easy to lie often some lie because they think they are going to hurt someones feelings . Other lie for sex for money power or other gain some are mentally ill and do not know they are lying
Some lie for fun as a game maybe they like to see how long they can play their game before they get caught or for attention
i seen a question or two hear that was a lie to get attention . Perhaps that person is very disturbed and does not know that the lie they told could hurt some one or maybe the asked it to see if any one would respond in a email ? who knows ?

Because the truth hurts...Ouch!.. And others are just perceptionaly chalenges. And most pepole s mind immagines things then re plays it as truth. Sound weird but accorting to some of the latest science your mind can play allot of tricks on you. Like remembering facts from emotions, in some situations your brain skips a few spaces and trys to fill them in, undelibrate.Others fill them in delibrate to their liking, but that is only the way I see it. And considering there is so much around we probably can not see...Well is it not easier just to make it up? I think some say no we need more evidence, but it seems that historicaly lies have been a means of communication on a different level, firt we found a stick then sword at at the same time our words coud do formatabe dammage, destroying our enimies and even converting them. ... But you dont have to take my word for it.

They dont like to hear the truth sometimes cause the truth can be really hurtful. Like if someone asked another person if they looked fat in this and the person say yeah you look like a cow. Than I wouldnt like to hear that, would you? I don't really like lieing but when it's nessecery than i do. People dont like to tell the truth cause it might hurt the other persons feelings and they wouldnt like to do that if it was there friend they were talking to.

The truth hurts when you have to hear it. I tell the truth. I am a believer in God. The truth sets me free! It feels good to be honest and to have a clear conscience.

Many people don't like to hear the truth because it puts them aback and actually makes them think! I don't know why people don't like telling the truth..... I do! I am honest to a fault where I unfortunately hurt people's feelings without meaning to..... just because they asked my opinion.
Truth is a double-edged sword...... to wield it, you must be willing to take the cut!
