Why Laptop companies like Dell or HP promote their product as an "anywhere wireless connection" in their tv ads showing a person even using a laptop at the beach or a park when we the costumers and computer users know that is impossible to have a wireless connection without a router or sattelite device. Why to cheat the costumers with false ads? Why they don't show us how to get that type of "anywhere wireless connection"?

The wireless notebook have built-in wifi. No, it's not usable anywhere, but there are a growing number of places where it is (hotels, libraries, coffee shops, airports, etc.) Most of these do cost money. Many cities are putting in free (ad-supported) wifi to cover either the downtown area of the whole city.
wifi is a wireless networking standard (actually several). It allows an "ethernet" network via wireless. Sure, there is a router-function involved, but it's at the other end of the link from your computer to the "hot spot".

So - the ads aren't false, just a little incomplete...

Because you DON'T need a router or a sattelite device to enjoy wifi internet. All you need is a capable laptop that has 802.11a/b or g on it...and a hotspot (if you don't know what that is...look it up) And voila...you have wireless internet. And don't tell me they don't have wifi hotspots at the beach...you can setup a hotspot practically anywhere. Then there's the other option. You go to Cingular or T-Mobile cellular service providers, and buy yourself a wireless data transfer card. You pay a monthly fee, just like a cell phone, and guess what? You get internet access wherever, or rather mostly...where you get a cellular signal. That's why they have the " go anywhere wireless connection " ad campaigns.

well some devices now, with the releaseof 802.11n, can reach 250 feet. so if soemone has an open connection and are up to 250 feet, they can access it. But i guess its just to get customers. They don't care about you, just the money. If it looks cool, people will buy =/ sad i know.

Cellphone networks are implementing much faster services. My bluetooth cellphone is pretty fast, and inexpensive when used with my laptop on the road.

As far as "anywhere" you're right. But a lot of places are "hot spots". Anyone with a wi-fi system can log on. Many hotels and libraries are hot spots. There are entire cities that are hot spots.
