G'day Juventina,
Thanks for your question.
The first World Cup that I watched was in 1974 which was the first Australia ever qualified for. I enjoyed it.
I then had to wait 32 years before they made it again. Hopefully, I won't have to wait another 32 years for the next occasion.
Regards

The world Cup 1998 was my first world cup, even though I did miss quite a few matches, but I loved it, I was 5 and thats when I became a gigantic fan of Zidane and Thierry Henry.
After 1998 I watched the euro cuo and was really delighted, the euro cup 2004 was quite disappointing but I didnt cry, after this, I never got the chance to follow the rest because we were settling in England, but then came the worlc cup 2006, I followed this world cup quite closely and with loads of hopes because now I'm 13 and understand everything about it. I cried a lot, I was so deeply touched that I couldnt even stop myself in school, but luckily everyone was friendly to me.
For some reasons, I'm still not over it and still sometimes start crying. May be I shouldnt take it so seriously, but I dont know what happened to me, I cried so much, I never cried so much before.
I hope the euro cup wont be as disappointing as this. But when I think about it in a good way, I still feel proud of my country because they did well!

My first was '98. I don't remember where it was played but it was the first time I saw David Beckham and I fell in love with football. Well more like David but the more I watched of him the more I got into the game. My favourite match was the Iran vs. US. I bet a friend Iran would win and I won! When I had TV I would watch English Premier League every Monday. I kept Manchester United as my favorite team even after Beckham left. Actually I never did see a full Real Madrid game. Anyway this time round I fell in love with the Mexicans and Gerardo Torrado really stood out for me so now I have been following Cruz Azul through the internet. I want to get cable again just so I can watch football but it's just too expensive. Oh well.

1994, I was seven years old...I have no memory of previous World Cups because I was not yet born, and in 1990, when Germany won, I was just a baby (three years old), too young to remember. My father actually went to World Cup 1974 in Germany, because he used to live there. So he was there in the stadium when Germany won their second title. When they won their third in Italy, he was in Germany watching it with friends at a bar. I know these aren't my memories, but he's told me about it. My own memories of the World Cup started in 1994 when I saw the Italy vs Brazil final, I had finished first grade, was on summer vacation. And of course 1998, I have the most vivid memories of that one, because that was the best World Cup I have ever seen! It was wonderful! How I wish I could re-live it!

Senegal-France, World Cup 2006.
I was pretty much in denial then (I was, like, FOUR years younger at that time). But on hindsight, I really, really enjoyed it (although I don't understand football)--heck, it's just a feeling. And what a feeling!
The best part is, France lost, so it was splashed all over the tabloid headlines then. I mean, wow, last time's champs lose 1-0 in opening match.
I enjoyed it so much that this time, I was terribly disappointed that they DIDN"T qualify!

It was the 1994 World Cup... I was 6 years old! Even so, I can still remember a lot of things of that World Cup, when Brazil wins for fourth time...

The first world cup I ever watch was 1982. I was eight years old.
My father went absolutely nuts when Italy won. He grabbed me (left my baby brother home with my mom) and took me to our city's "little Italy". He stuck me up on top of a fountain where there were two guys dunking their heads in the water going crazy. I remember starting to cry because I was so scared and I thought my father was crazy. I never saw him so happy before.
He bought me a shirt right away that had a picture of Dino Zoff on it. Total 80's I must say. Anyway, watched every one since then.

A while ago, my Romanian boyfriend at the time introduced me to Football, it was in 1982 when Paolo Rossi was playing. That's the only name I remembered from that World Cup. My boyfriend, Iordache, was for Italy because he had spent time there after fleeing his country from Caucescu. Yes, I went outside celebrating with all the Italians, why not?

Italia 90, that's when I first started supporting Italy, I can remember my brother explaining the ins and outs of the game to me and he pointed out that Roberto Baggio was the most expensive player in the world at the time.
My brother got married during these finals and I can remember that he changed out of his suit as soon as could and disappeared upstairs to watch the England match when he was supposed to be posing for the photos! Needless to say, my aunt dragged him back down and gave him a good telling off for neglecting his bride!!!
And yes, sixteen years later they're still married to each other!!!
