All I did was 'alt+1' or 2 or 3 or any number on the number pad. It doesn't show up on wordpad or note pad. I went all the way to 300 on this post, I don't know why it showed only the first few. Thanks for the character map tip, and thanks for the notepad tip as well, I assumed since it didn't work in wordpad, it wouldn't work in notepad either.

I know you didn’t ask a question. But I can give you a better answer for this. You can do these in WordPad. This is how you do it.

- Open WordPad
- Press and hold the ALT key and type the number (say 128) and then release the Alt key
- You’ll see the character appear

And also, don’t you think that its difficult to figure you the number by your self? Well I have a better method for you then

- Click “Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tool -> Character Map”
- Can you see lot o characters in the list?
- Now click on any charter you like (Say ß)
- Observe the bottom-right corner of the window (actually the status bar)
- Can you see the text as “Keystroke : Alt + 0223”
- So by using this method you can know what are the characters as well as its number
- Its fast than typing by you and see what comes up next
