what is a simplified way to convert decimal, binary and hexadecimal numbers?

i also need help with adding and subtracting these numbers, only i need it explained simply because i don't understand any of the ways i've found online.

To convert decimal to binary, divide by 2s and pay attention to the remainder.

231

231 / 2 = 115 r: 1
115 / 2 = 57 r: 1
57 / 2 = 28 r: 1
28 / 2 = 14 r: 0
14 / 2 = 7 r: 0
7 / 2 = 3 r: 1
3 / 2 = 1 r: 1
1 / 2 = 0 r: 1

11100111 base 2 = 231 base 10

To convert to Hex (Base 16) divide by 16 and pay attention to the remainder

231 / 16 = 14 r: 7
14 / 16 = 0 r: 14 (e)

E7 Base 16 = 231 Base 10

This method also works for other number systems. :)
