I need advice for a '76 GMC 6000 series grain truck with a 350 engine. The brakes have recently started stiffening up when pressed after the truck is warm. When pressed the brakes have no play and I have to press really hard to get the truck to slow at all. The transmission fluid is fine and the bearings are still good. The truck has a tendency to overheat-but I keep a close eye on it and make sure that it isn't run too long. Any ideas? I would really appreciate some help. Thanks.

If the truck has a Hydro-boost power brake system, it could be either the pump or the booster....../lean towards the booster....
If it's a vacuum booster system, it's a bad booster.
On the overheating, are the radiator fins clean?
Is there dust & debris in front of the radiator?
When was the last cooling system service?
Drop me an e-mail if you wish.

You didn't say but I assume your brakes are hydraulic, sounds to me like your brake fluid is low or your brake booster is bad.

are the brakes air assisted or hydraulic? if they are air assisted you may have a broke hose or air pump that has gone bad. if hydraulic the power booster may be leaking

Sounds like the booster pump (hydroboost system) is going, or has gone out.
