My friend has his BA in Spanish. His cousin would like him to tutor her two children on the side. What do you think would be fair to charge her? He wants to charge a good rate, but on the other hand since it is family he doesn't want to charge too much. He is not a teacher, he is going in to social work.

Thank you taking the time to answer this.

My friend is in the process of getting a masters in Social Work. If he were well established he might not charge anything, but earning this money will help him a bit as he goes through school.

In the area I live in $15 an hour is the going rate, but for two kids maybe more. However, since it is family $15 would be good.

Have him ask around your area what a tutor would normally cost per hour and then take some off as a 'family discount'. the family would probably feel more comfortable asking for help from your friend if they are allowed to pay him for his time and trouble so be sure he doesn't charge too little.

Depends on a few things. Does the guy live close to the family? Does the guy like children? Does he really want to do it? Can the family afford it? ETC. I would say if they live close by, and since he's not doing it for a living, $10 - $15 an hour would be a decent price.

Charging family for anything is wrong. If the cousin offers to pay for that then you can accept it, otherwise you shouldn't charge your cousin. I am Latin American and I have helped people with their Spanish at no cost. I could never do that to anyone. Have a good one!

properly it does matter on the quantity of the favors. as an get mutually, in the journey that your chum is a mechanic and is surely repairing your automobile, it might look well mannered for the chum to grant some type of compensation. yet for favors of decrease values or that are not as financially burdening, i don't believe of friends could unavoidably value one yet another. Friendships are about helping one yet another, and once you've a skill (like hair reducing) that you grant on your persons, it might in ordinary words look honest and precise that your persons do w/e choose they're able to and also you're in desire of, for you in go back. some human beings even with the undeniable fact that are low cost/stingy and also you should how you could manage diverse friends. they could not be taking benefit of you, yet you could not be so beneficiant with friends who's surely not as beneficiant back, or you could be left feeling used or unappreciated. Be well mannered, do what you could, yet do not enable your self to be taken benefit of in the journey that your chum isn't prepared to do a similar issues for you. Take care.

WE paid $20 for two hours once a week. We paid for all the expenses, like photo copies for homework, she just gave us the receipts and we paid for the meals, we ate breakfast on Sunday morning at Mexican restaurant and only spoke Spanish.

My husband made $15 an hour 20 years ago tutoring math.
He should at least get that much!

$10.00-15.00 per hour sounds reasonable to me; Or maybe 50-75% of whatever the local going rate is.
