Have scientists ever calculated a number? I'm just curious as to how many people have ever lived, since the beginning of man, up until now.

In an essay I read years ago by Isaac Asimov, he estimated that some 100 billion human beings have walked the face of the earth throughout human history (existence.) In a recent post here an Yahoo! Answers, someone cited a website where the current estimate was about 106 billion. The current world population is estimated at 6.5 billion.

(The preferred wording for your question is: 'How many people have lived since....')

It depends on when you start. Do you count H. erectus, or any of the other related species of H. sapiens? Actually, the number of those is small enough compared to the current population that they don't count for much, so by doing an eyeball integration of the population curve I estimate that the total of humanity is somewhere around 20 billion. By far the largest contribution is people who have lived in the last hundred years.

Yes they have Alien being, as if you didn't know:

"if we consider modern humans to have emerged around 40,000 to 45,000 years ago, estimates about the number of dead in human history vary widely — anywhere from 12 billion to up to 110 billion. However, most demographers peg the number of dead at approximately 60 billion,"

no more than 20 billion.

6.5 billion of them are alive right now.

the other guy said 100 billion. that's way too many. in the year 1900, there were only 1 billion people on earth.
