I have several online accounts which ask for user name and password. I use a shared computer at a internet center.

How do i ensure that the password i enter after my internet
session is over is not stored (so that my mistake it doesn't
become available to others)

Is there some way for me to clear it.

I heard there is something called cookies or something,
which we can clear...

Thanks for your help.

Usually when you login and enter your ID and password, there is a checkbox where you indicate whether or not you want your information stored. If you are given this option, be sure to keep this box empty.

You mention "internet center." If this is at a college, they may have need to store it for one reason or another.

Example: I am networked at work (hospital). I have a login and password, but it is stored by the IT guys. They must know who entered and when information was accessed.

If, in your setting, you are allowed, you can clear cookies and history prior to logoff:

Tools
Internet Options
Clear Cookies
Delete Files (offline)
Clear History
set days to keep pages in history to 0
There is a downside: When you delete cookies, some programs or goodies you downloaded may or may not work, pictures may or may not become X’s the next time you open the file, etc.
It’s your choice to make.

Firstly, you should not key in your username and password using the keyboard as the computer may have trojan that can steel your information.

I suggest you store your passwords in a USB key and use a password manager to store your personal information.

I suggest you use roboform for USB access
