He!! no! That's just rude and if he is telling her what to eat on the first date, what will he be like in 6 months? That would be the last date. Sometimes my hubby orders for me but we've been together for 17 1/2 years, he KNOWS what I like. But on a first date?...no way.

It's surprising how many women have said no. All my friends are shocked if I tell them that I didn't take care of the bill on the first date. It also seems a little contradictory, since all of us guys are well aware that money holds an unmentionable power over most women. But there's women for ya, creatures of contradiction.

Your job as the man is to choose the restaurant, let her order whatever she wants, and then pay for it. Even if she makes more money than you, you'll still be paying the check on the first few dates.

If the guy knows the restaurant and the women doesn't sure. But sometimes no matter wher you go it's best if he asks her if he can order for her.

I'm assuming you're saying she'd choose a meal on her own and then by "ordering their food" you mean telling the waitress what she chose? I'd say it depends on the girl. You should just ask her if she'd like you to order for her. Simple as that!

Not unless he knew what I like, but wouldn't that take a few more dates to find out?

I can see it as a sweet gesture from husband to wife though, or a long-term relationship.

I'd rather order my own food though.

some women do, yes. I was told by my mother it is polite to let the man do the ordering, but i have found that it is a good way to see what kind of listener he is and how important it is to him that you get what you wanted. as a picky eater, this lets me know that my preferences are worth speaking up for. hope this helps

It is very proper for the guy to order for his date, after the lady tells him what she wants. If you are talking about the guy deciding what his date should eat, then my answer is no.

no way.... women like to be thought of as independent. The only time you should order for them is if they're like going to the bathroom when the waiter comes....lol
