People label each other for different reasons. Some do it out of insecurity (it makes them feel good to make fun of someone else); some do it to be accepted by their peers; others do it because that is what they've been taught by their families. Always do what is right, you'll be a better person in the long run.

It has been done since the beginning of time. We apply labels to people establish a form of identification based on stereotyping or racism.

Being judgmental is harmful, as usually the judgment comes back upon the one judging. If we are critical of others then we can expect others to be critical of us. However, the opposite is also true, if we show acceptance of others, then we ourselves will be accepted. This is way more beneficial for all.

Because they are judgmental and inconsiderate. They make fun of people and label them because they're different. People are afraid of change and difference so they use labels as a way to classify "different" social groups in an idiotic manner.
I believe labels are stupid.

Human nature perhaps. Could be that the people who are quick to label others are still seeking out their own self identity.

cause it is easier to plump people into categories. stereotypes make understanding people easier than getting to know them.

for everyone who doesn't know
emo = emotional.
they are not people who slit their wrist, and cry. once again that is stereotyping. originally it was a sub-group of punk.
