Justice Stevens received his appointment to the Supreme Court partially on the basis that he is a Catholic, Republican conservative, and the Bushies thought that he would tow the party line in the High Court. He has made some decisions that seem to indicate that both sides of his brain are actually functioning, and that he insists on using reason in his decision-making process rather than confining himself to the Republican party's narrow view. Ann Coulter has appointed herself the Right Wing's Chief Bloviator. She attacks anyone who dares to insists that fairness and consideration be a part of our public discourse. She doesn't know anything but hate mongering on whatever subject she turns her vitriole upon. She is a pox upon our fairer sex, and a blight on our country

The above answers are incorrect. Justice Stevens was put on the Supreme Court in 1975 by President Gerald Ford -- not Nixon.
President Ford thought he was getting a faithful conservative, but was mistaken. A funny thing happens to people once they get to the high court. They know they've gone as high as they can ever get, and they know they'll never have to run for office or face appointment ever again. And because of that, people tend to lose whatever facades they once wore, and become who they really are.
Southerners in the 1930s thought they were getting a segregationist in Alabama judge Hugo Black. They were wrong. Justice Black became a scourge to segregation. Likewise, President Bush (senior) thought he was getting a tough conservative in his nominee David Souter. But Souter turned out to be a liberal judge (Coulter doesn't like him either).
And of course, the same thing happened with John Paul Stevens. Ford thought he was getting a conservative, and it turns out he was wrong. President Ford called his appointment of Stevens one of the worst mistakes of his presidency. That's why Ann Coulter is upset. Stevens didn't pan out the way people thought he would.

Why does every physique even pay interest to Coulter. the only reason that she gets any interest is using the fact she is an anorexic who wears skirts as much as her lulu. every physique can improve her har 2 ft and placed on skirts as much as there. Ann isn't something particular.

Actually where did we all sin to earn an Ann Coulter? I think the world would be a better place without that bitter, hateful woman.

He is one of the courts justices appointed by a conservative (Nixon) but turned into a liberal; thus a "turn coat"
Oddly enough its happened to both sides numerous times, but it has happened to conservatives more in the last 30 years (Souter and Stevens) then to the liberals.

The only reason why anyone listens to Ann Coulter is because she's hot. Otherwise, she's an idiot.

Surprised you don't about them, he dumped her right before becoming Supreme Court Justice. In fact some people at the time thought it might prevent his nomination or confirmation, but you know Washington. She has been biding her time the witched old witch.

She may take umbrage to the fact that Stevie ignores the constitution and rules based on his own idiot opinions rather than constitutional law. He uses foreign judges for his opinions rather than the bill of rights. Coultier is RIGHT as usual.
