The story goes like this (approximately). A girl and her brother were playing near a box they were not supposed to touch. They hear a voice in the box calling them and asking them to open the box. Pandora (the girl) did, and all the evil, mean, wicked things in this world came out of the box and started to sting the children. They quickly realized their mistake for disobedience, and they slam the lid closed, but by then it is too late. Evil is in the world, and they can't take it back. Crying bitterly from their sin and their wounds, they hear another voice from the box asking to be let out. They say no, we will not be tricked again. But the voice persists, and finally they open the box and Hope comes out and kisses their wounds and makes them better.

It is somewhat allegory similar to the Bible, if you stretch the imagination, but shouldn't be used as a true belief of how Evil came to be, nor how we can have forgiveness form sin and salvation, which only comes through Jesus Christ.

Not that you asked, but I think it is dangerous not to believe in the Devil, because you cannot win if you do not know who your enemy is.

Just going by vague memory, Pandora was not supposed to open the box because it would release all the causes of man's misfortune; all that was evil ! Of course, being a woman, her curiosity got the best of her and she opened it. Now you see the result..... all the misery in the world. However, the Gods ,in their wisdom, had not only locked up all of the bad stuff in the box, but had also locked up the only antidote. When the bad stuff was released so was this ......HOPE..... and that's what has kept man going through all the ages.
And , it's no more mythical than the story of Adam and Eve and the Serpent (Devil ) !

Greek mythology says that a woman named pandora was given a box to hold on to by one of the gods that she was not to open. To make sure she wouldn't she hid it away in storage. one day she was going through her old stuff and she found it. She looked at it wondering what was in it until curiousity got the best of her and she opened it. All things considered evil came pouring out. This is how evil came to earth.

It's greek mythology. I don't believe it. I doubt its true.

.

This is simple...

If you know something is wrong or just doesn't seem right, and you indulge in it, that's a meaning....

or, if you know that your neighbors wife is cheating on her husband, and you write a note to him about it... that's another meaning...

Or, if you ask questions on YAHOO that will get everyone all FIRED UP, that's what I do.
