It is very hot where I live. Many many days each summer over 100 degrees.. So, I think the most popular summer activity in these parts is suffering and reminiscing about cool winter afternoons, rain, snow, etc...
:) That aside, I think my most favorite summer activity is having BBQs with my friends...
We have a lot of BBQs. I am a recovering alcoholic and us drunks like to get together, BBQ and shoot the breeze... Our group has just learned to do it sans-booze. This makes it a total family event. It's really cool to be able to get together, have conversations, meet each other's families, and do everything you'd normally do at a BBQ completely sober... You'd be surprised at how much you can enjoy the simple company of others when none of you are loaded...
We also like to go to different drug programs in the area and throw sober BBQs for them, have volleyball tourneys and stuff... Teach newly recovering addicts how to have a good damn time without the dope.
