Sign onto the database of focus group facilities directly. One in the chicago area is Schlesinger Associates: here's their website
http://www.schlesingerassociates.com/join.html
Another in the Chicago area is Focus Pointe
http://www.focuspointe.net/facilities/fac_HomePage.aspx?intFacilityID=7
Once you get into their database, you'll be called up for telephone surveys to see whether or not you qualify for particular focus groups or mock juries. Be sure that you answer honestly; if you make it through to a group and are found to be dishonest (for example saying that you have used a certain product and in fact have not) or uncooperative, you could be blacklisted since how you do reflects on the company that recruited you.
However, if you're found to be especially articulate and cooperative, you could be placed on a preferred list for potential recruits, or be given special consideration (for example the client could be asked to override things like the fact that you've participated in a focus group within the past six months.)
Good luck!

Do a web search for "Market Research Chicago" or "Focus Groups Chicago" I found a a ton that way and they call me at least twice a month. I've gotten paid between $50 and $200. Yesterday I went to one and it was overbooked so they paid me my $85 and I got to go home. Besides Vocal Point and Schlessinger (sp?) there's Smith Research one called Fieldwork Chicago. I believe you can sign up for all of these online.
I've never been called from any of these for a mock jury, but I would love to do that. Im not sure they even do them.

Internet is so essential nowadays that it becomes a part of your everyday ordinary. You can read the newspaper, check your email, upgrade your Facebook status, shop online for Christmas gifts, Skype with pals, search on Google and so on however the most important is that you can also get an everyday paid job, a task where you get paid easily with no headache.
