Tools>Internet Options> Content Tab> Autocomplete
By turning off autocomplete, a long side deleting you cookies and offline files (main tab of the Internet Options window) nothing will remain in the drop down box. You may need to do this regularly.

It depends on what you wanna do... if you're gonna delete ALL history items.... go to tools>internet options>delete all history items..
But if you want to delete only the recent searchers,
on the yahoo toolbar, you will see a search web button.. then in the left of it,
there's a left right button...
right click it, the clear all history options...
well.. that works for me... Im using Internet explorer....
or.. if all doesnt work.. download a cleaner...
and.. delete all cookies... it eats space..

set days to keep pages in history to 0
There is a downside: When you delete cookies, some programs or goodies you downloaded may or may not work, pictures may or may not become X’s the next time you open the file, etc.
It’s your choice to make.

You can delete the history of search bar on ur homepage (whatever it is either Yahoo! or Google) by following this path. Tools> internet options> content> auto complete> clear forms. To stop the generation of history uncheck the box of forms.
You can delete the search history on ur yahoo toolbar this way. click the arrow in the search box. Select options, click clear history. Follow this path also. Pencil> toolbar options> uncheck the boxes of enable auto complete and enable history> ok.
To delete address bar history, follow this path. Tools> internet options> general > clear history > set the number of days to zero> ok.
