Bayer Advanced Home Pest Control- it comes in a blue bottle

I got it at Lowes or Home Depot. It works great. It comes with a manual sprayer on a two foot cord for ease in spraying hard to reach places.

Spray it in areas where you see the most ant traffic and it should kill them off within a week. Once you spray it don't step on or squish ants that you see running around.

Some of them will die right away but you need some ants to come into contact with the queen to kill her.

It works a lot faster than the stuff the ants are supposed to pick up. Sometimes the ants don't seem to care for that stuff.

Take care not to spray it where small kids will get in it.

They have nest somewhere. Try to find it. If they have made a nest in our roof you will see sawdust on the ground or floor. If you can't find the nest sprinkle boric acid powder and diamatous earth in their travel path. They will walk in this and take it back to the nest. The other ants will help them to clean it off of them. The boric acid is a poison. the diamataus earth is finely gounrd silica with sharp edges that will penetrate their ecoskeleton and kill them Do not put the boric acid where pets or children can get to it. The earth is non-poisonous.If you put this outdoors around your house foundation you will probably have to reapply after a rain. Neither one are expensive and go a long way.I killed 4 ant nests this year with this combination.

Are you sure that they are carpenter ants? Anyway, believe it or not ants will not cross a chalk line! You can either use the regular stick of white chalk and "draw" lines along the crevices close the wall/floor joint or you can buy the loose blue chalk that carpenters use in their marking string (?). You can get the blue loose chalk at most hardware stores. Otherwise, boric acid works in the same way. If you use the loose chalk or boric acid, you should treat the entire area where the ants are seen, i.e., kitchen cabinets, etc. Good luck!
