Not sure where your niece is located, but often times the local Goodwill or other similar charitable organizations have positions that are filled by either handicapped or challenged individuals. Social services or DHS may be able to help with supplemental programs that may assist her with obtaining rides to and from work.

Many states have a Workforce Development program that reintroduces individuals into the workplace after many years of not working. Obviously, she faces a great challenge as her limitations will be difficult to overcome, but there are programs available to low income and medically challenged individuals.

Finally, you may want to assist her in whatever way you are able in getting connected with programs that could assist her. This is a great start - but I would recommend contacting local governmental agencies and social workers to find out what's available for her in her area.

Best of luck to your neice - she's lucky to have an aunt that cares so much for her.

What state do you live in? In NYS we have a program called VESID and it's for people with disablities. They will test you, and decide what your interest and physical condidtions are and will work with you to get training. After training they will even help you find a job, create a resume, and talk to future employers. Often they will pay your salary for the first few months, so the employer has an incentive in hiring you! Good Luck!!!

If she has a computer, she might be able to get a job where she can work at home so the car issue won't actually be much of one. Otherwise, I would suggest a program like one of the others reccomended.

Good luck to your niece!
