I currently use Windows Live One Care and am pretty satisfied with it. I would like to see if AVG will find anything WLOC is missing. Can I just disable my current anti-virus and try AVG,or do I have to uninstall WLOC first?

Unless Microsoft has done something sinister (wouldn't be the first time) you should be able to disable One Care and try a scan with AVG just fine. I use both AVG and McAfee, but naturally only run one or the other.

Disabling your current antivirus program should work... I have the same problem with Norton auto-protect. It scans the folder where my spyware and antivirus software temporarily put corrupted files. Then it tells me I have a major error, which is not true, because AVG or whatever other program will delete the files eventually. So, turn off your current antivirus program while you run AVG. You should be fine.

Rather than go through the aggravation of disabling your current AV software, why don't you use one of the online services that can scan your PC from a web site? They are fairly simple to use and you can specify where it looks etc. They are free to use and don't leave anything on your PC.

A good example is Trend Micro Housecall. Panda do one too. URLs below.

hi,perhaps you can try Norton to remove the virus. but you need to pay for the software.

i also recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can disable all virus to run, because the virus can only run on IE.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

download firefox for free:
