you will see pictures of the movies, comics and animated series for both Gotham City and Metropolis. Also you will see where you can get them. Just remember that Metropolis was also a film.

While they are not currently in production, you might want to search for the old DC Role Playing game manuals from the early 1990s.
They certainly will not be up-to-date because of "No Man's Land" in the Batman titles and the recent Infinite Crisis, but they will at least be somewhat good reference material.
