As a bible studying Christian, I oppose anything that appears to move us a step closer to the conditions described prophetically in scripture. The anti-Christ will lead a one world govt. and the UN is an attempt to create that very type of institution. I also see the corruption and failure to affectively address evil. There are so many things I see in the UN that conflict with my morals and beliefs.... as there are in so many things in the world today, including churches, the Republican party, as well as of course most things liberal.

I kind of laughed when I read the question...
Um, anyway, the problem with the UN is not its goal of world peace; everyone lauds their intentions.
However, the UN, like its predecessor, the League of Nations, suffers from deep inadequacies.
They are perceived as woefully unable in preventing conflicts, as the Iranian and North Korean nuclear situations show. They have not been able to do anything of note to diffuse these tense situations.
They are massively expensive to maintain, as the organization is a very large bureaucracy, and the United States foots a huge portion of the bill. Conservatives, being fiscally concious, think the money could be better used elsewhere, like in the Defense Department.
As a huge bureaucracy, the UN suffers from massive corruption and inefficiency in its operation, further angering fiscal conservatives. Also, despite the large portion of the budget that the United States pays, she enjoys no proportionally large say in how that money is spent.
In short, the UN is a nice idea poorly executed.

You actually don't have a clue about the UN do you? Remember the oil for food scandal? That was real. UN troops raping and murdering in Africa....That was real. The UN only writes resolutions, traffics drugs, funnels money, and plays life long politics. They are corrupt to their very core. We need an organization LIKE what the UN is supposed to be. Not the crime ridden piece of trash that is has become. It should go the same way as the league of Nations. A new organization should be formed. Why do you think The republicans fought so hard to get John Bolton in there. He doesn't buckle to their corruption and he's intelligent but says it like it is.

The UN is bad for the US. Their resolutions are a joke, nobody pays attention to them. The UN was created to maintain the peace but they are more interested in promoting the causes of the third world countries a the detriment of the Western World rather than being impartial. BTW, I am agnostic.

Nobody is talking about disbanding the UN, I think you probably heard about people trying to distance the affilliation between the US and the UN. This most recent conflict between IDF and Hezbollah is clear evidence that the UN has no intention of looking out for our or anyones best interest but thier own.

World peace??? Look at these - Rowanda, Durfa, S. Africa, Ethiopia, Libya, N. Korea...does it look like the U.N. is helping???
They are just a bunch of America-hating foreigners on American soil, supported by American money, with diplomatic immunity and no saving graces whatsoever. When you hear of "U.N. Peacekeepers" that's a euphemism for "The American Military!"
Their whole agenda is to take away a country's sovereignty {ESPECIALLY the U.S.!} Their idea of world peace is total disarmament of all private citizens and letting "Big Brother" U.N. take care of you by being their police force. No thank you.

The UN is corrupt, both morally and fiscally. The best thing that could be done is for it to be disbanded.
