She absolutely can not get fired for being pregnant!!!!! she does need to tell her employer though. If it helps her feel better she can look on line at the pregnancy laws.
"In the united states, an amendment to Title VII of the civil rights act of 1964, called "The pregnancy discrimination act", allows pregnant women equal treatment to other employees or applicants.
for more info look up this "The pregnancy Discrimination Act"
she is all good!!! =)

Well, to be totally honest here...an employer would get sued if they fired someone because they were pregnant. BUT that is why they find something else to fire them for...they may still be fired but it would be for something else...like being late to work( even 1 minute late) more than 2-3 times.
Employers will find a loophole if they need one.
However, if this is a really good job that she wants to have for a really long time, my suggestion is to keep it quiet until people start asking. By then, she will be an integral part of the company and they will not be so quick to cut her loose.
Good luck! And congrats to your friend.

She can't be fired for being pregnant because it is illegal and she could sue them if she wanted too. However, some jobs will probably look for other things to get rid of her. I speak from experience..
I was fired from a job for nothing, but I do believe it was because I was pregnant and they found out about it. So they started to look for every little thing to get rid of me. They could not say it was because of my pregnancy because they could of been sued, so they made up some bullshit excuse and I was out of a job, just like that. If I had more proof, I would have sued them but I didn't. (Good Luck)!!!!!

She shouldn't tell them until she's too big to hide it. I was fired when my boss found out I was pregnant... I called the labor board and an attorney, but the company put down on the paperwork that they fired me because they no longer needed me to fill the position! The company will find a way to get around being sued...Promise!!! Don't let her tell her boss!!!

they can't fire her because shes pregnant..i would hide it as long as possible i'm now 5 1/2 months depending on my clothes you can't tell i just look fatter. So unless the job is UNSAFE like heavy lifting hide it. At some point it will be seen no matter what she dose by then she might want to take off anyway to prepare 4 the baby's birth.

They can't fire her for being pregnant but they can fire her for being late with an assignment, failing to follow procedure etc. etc etc Tell her to start a journal with dates and times and names if any of that crap starts up once she tells them. Tell her to tell her work right away - she wouldn't want someone else to find out and mention it to the boss before she does.
As far as everything else goes - get her the book What to Expect While Your Expecting - peace

I don't believe a place can terminate her because she's pregnant. But i would take a look at her job and determine if it is a safe place for her to work. If it involves heavy lifting or chemicals, anything dangerous, then i suggest she quit anyway.

They cant fire her just for being pregnant, she can sue them for descrimination. The only thing to worry about is them telling her something different and it acutally be because she is pregnant.

I believe, she's protected by the law. but actually, depends on the country and the company in particular. unfortunately, there r cases when private companies got rid of pregnant employees and no lawsuit was successful.

They can't fire her specifically for being pregnant. HOWEVER they can fire her for not being able to perform her job BECAUSE of the pregnancy.
