I think that jewelry would be appropriate for a Sweet 16. Cash is so impersonal. The traditional party is basically celebrating her welcome into womanhood, so the jewelry would be a more "grown up" gift than money. Something that says she's not a little girl anymore, but a woman. Elegant, simple, and real. I think that the jewelry that's fake, charms, crystals, rhinestones, etc... is more for children. It looks like "dress up" jewelry not "real" jewelry.
Maybe her birthstone in a pendant. Name necklace with her birthstone or a diamond. Hearts are associated with that birthday, so many some nice heart shaped jewelry.
Whatever you get, it should be something she could wear in years to come. Since the price range you listed is generous, you shouldn't have a hard time finding something nice for her.

Boy are you generous! Wow, I am impressed.
Generally girls would like the jewelry, provided that you know their individual taste and don't get something garish they'd never wear. Make sure you don't get the same thing for each one, especially if they know each other. Women and girls compare gifts all the time. We love opening presents, so make sure it is wrapped beautifully! Get a nice card, too and write a personal note to them (in addition to the sentiment already written in the card). It will mean a lot if you do that rather than just signing your name.
Cash is nice too, but it shows no effort. Go for the jewelry.

More than likely the girl would perfer cash money so that they can buy the gift on their own or save up for something special. It also depends, if you notice that the girl who is having the party lookin at something particular then u should probably get them that. If it is someone like a girlfriend she would probably like something that she can always remember you by, so more than likely I would get her jewelry. To answer your question the average girl would more than likley want cash money.

Well first of it depends on the type of girl it is. We are all very different. But if she likes jewelery then get her that but if she allready has like alot of it then try to get her someting else like flowers and a little piece of jewlry. Money can work to but you might feel obligated to give her to much becuase you dont want to look cheap or something. Or also you can ask her friends what she is into and go off of that!

Girls love anything thought out and sparkly. For a fun themed gift, shop at www.breezybeachwear.com
I recommend purchasing a cute top in her size, a few jewelry pieces and a pretty silk flower hair clip. Make it into an Aloha package. She'll love that it is something different!

A nice gold or silver tennis braclet or ankel braclet, with maybe a few dimonds, or a dolphin on it. It definitly depeds on the girl. But try to personalize it...If she plays alot of sports get a bracelt with a basketball on it...etc.(make sure you know what the girl aready wears...I only wear yellow gold, Iwill NOT wear silver or white gold; but my best friend only wears white gold!) Jewlery is deffinitly better then money...they don't know the exact price so the girls can't compare "he gave me $100", "he gave me $200"- this way no drama! Plus a gift is more fun to open then an envelope. Wrap it nicely too!!!

Jewelry is great and personal!!
Have you ever thought about gift certificates instead of money? I think it's a little more thoughtful than plain cash, and it shows that you care enough to take the time and learn what stores she likes to shop at.

Okay maybe this is something out of the question but.... everyone will be expecting something really expensive or good.
Why not put that much thouht into the gift itself. Take plenty of pictures... make a scrapt book or something. Like maybe old pictures out of a year book and then recent pictures you take. Maybe their mother can hook you up with some baby pictures. I know it probally sounds gay... but for a female it is very sweet, unexpected, and also thoughtful.

Def. not money. How about jewelry or a gift certificate to a spa? I LOVE to get massages and a day at the spa is always nice (she can get her nails done, hair, massage, whatever). But if you don't want her to know how much you spent, go with jewelry.

Probably jewelery. You almost can't ever go wrong with money, but for a memorable birthday like 16, it's nice to have some sort of keepsake that you can look at later and say, "so and so gave me this for my sixteenth birthday!"
