Yes. If your like me the ipod provided headphones dont fit and definately dont stay in your ears. Any regular sized headphone jack fits in the ipod.

YES!!!! I use a lovely set of sony's in mine. Those little white ones, aside from causing PAIIN (!), make you a target for muggers (eeep!) and have crappy sound quailty.
the phone jack is a standard size so all ear/head phones should work in it just fine

Yes! In fact it would be a good idea to do so! When you're wearing those silly white earbuds downtown you're just asking to be mugged!
