I keep getting this "error" box that says that registry and system files are corrupt every time I connect to the internet. Is this a virus. The look of the error box looks like windows xp, even though I have ME on my machine. Is this a virus???? If it is what does it do? If I clicked next, what would happen. I don't want to have my computer ruined.

You got something alright but if the messages are recommending you go to something like regfix.net it's more like a premonition of a virus. If you go there they'll infect your computer for sure. get yourself an anti virus/firewall program and run it. The problem will go away.

This is a six month trial of F-Secure which is good and when that runs out you can get some other one for three months or something and so on. I doubt you'll ever have to pay for one with so many free trials around.

No and megarock has got it right :) And that popup IS BULLSHIT they want to get you to buy there ''Rouge'' tools Acully whatever is saying that IS THE VIRUS and you do not have to reinstall windows
Just get a good antivirus Windows does NOT HAVE THIS INSTALLED WITH IT. They installed their program WITHOUT ur promission so this program is illgal ''Not for you'' but the company if tracked can be sued to the deepest hole of their pocket so DO NOT refromat windows they just want you to purchese it and they still nag you just need an Anti-spyware

It can be caused by spyware or virus activity.

If your registry is damaged you may have to reinstall windows soon. If you can backup anything you need now.

After you reinstall windows pay for antivirus and anti spyware programs so you can stop them before damage your computer.

Test before doing anything but in general you don't want to run Windows ME - upgrade as soon as possible.
