AHH, THE EIGHTIES. WHAT A TIME FOR KIDS SCI FI MOVIES
Weird Science - two kids put bras on their heads and turn a doll into a life sized babe with magic powers
The Last Star Fighter - a kid from a caravan park gets the high score on an arcade game and gets enrolled into some intergalactic war
The Explorers - three kids in a computerised bubble go into outer-space and meet a couple aliens. (River Phoenix - I think)
Batteries Not Included - an old couple find some little friends in the form of mini spaceship looking, machine type, creatures, with no apparent power source.
Flight of the Navigator - a kid gets "abducted" by an unmanned alien spaceship and returned into the future then travels back to his own time, making friends with the spaceship along the way.
ET - i think we all know about this one
Mac and Me - Mac is and alien with an ET likeness and teams up with a kid in a wheelchair for an adventure or two
D.A.R.Y.L. - a robotic kid with superhuman brain, speed and strength

The original Star Wars trilogy---Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi. Classic storytelling, great effects for that day and age. Those movies totally turned me on to the science fiction genre.

The day after tommorow(2004)
Although it was claimed by physicians that things that happened in the movie could never happen in real life, I think it just wanted to exaggerate the effects of what global warming could bring so that to create awareness to protect the earth.
The special effects in the movie are really good too.
I watched this for a total of 5 times.
I could only name one...cause I rarely watch movies of this genre.
