Just tell him! Show him you have confidence, and do it! You have to remember that in schools nowadays guys can get accused for harassment simply by asking a girl out on a date. Thus, the focus is now more on the girl to initiate the action since the guy can literally get kicked out of school simply by asking a girl out.
