It doesn't really matter what happens in the regular season. They'll probably meet in the ALCS, where Mo will be pitching the 9th inning of every close game. The Tigers are 2-4 against the Yanks this year, and the only 2 games they won came in the 9th inning...both times Mariano wasn't available - today because he pitched in game 1 of the doubleheader, and in Detroit he was way overused at the time. Come playoff time that won't be an issue, he will pitch every day if needed. Besides, the Tigers offense isn't that great, and they strike out too much, and I don't know if all of their young pitching can hold up with that many innings into October.

yankees have already showed that they can win a 7 game series from the tigers already winning 4 games of their season series. if tigers win tomarrow yankees already won the series, and what happened tonight wouldnt happen in the playoffs cause obviously rivera would have pitched the 9th.

Makes me think that the White Sox will take out both of them in the playoffs.
