Its nothing special but whenever I use the magnetic lasso tool i cant quit out of it and I end up selecting the whole picture. I cant even close the program. So my wuestion is how do I end magnetic lasso. I use 7.0 by the way

The Best way to quit Magnetic lasso tool once u start is to "Double click". It will select some portion of image and u can always deselect that.

When using the magnetic lasso you can press enter to complete the selection from where your cursor currently rests or press ESC to deselect your current selection (Ctrl+d).
The magnetic lasso tool is inferior to the polygonal lasso in every way, try to avoid it if possible.
If the problem extends past usability/controls, you should try switching tools after using the magnetic lasso, reinstall Photoshop or contact Adobe about the issue.

maybe you haven't closed the path. ends have to meet..I would suggest you change it to the regular lasso tool, magnetic too complicated. all lasso tools are the same in all programs. I use photoshop CS

It's been awhile since I've used photoshop, but I'll give it a shot...
Look under the "edit" menu (next to file) for something like "deselect" or "deselect all". I'm not sure if this will work but I hope it helps!
