It all depends on your state laws and the wording of the lease. I would consult a lawyer if I were you. Better to be safe than sorry.

Talk to the other co-signer and the landlord. Explain that you are moving, but the other person will be staying on. Ask if it would be possible to have your name taken off the lease. If it's settled between the three of you, then it doesn't have to get reported to the credit agencies. If there is a disagreement or the lease specifically requires you to stay the full term, then you are SOL. Try to make sure that there is another person already available and willing to move in and take over your spot so the landlord doesn't think that there won't be enough income to cover the bills. If there isn't anyone right now to move in, then I would suggest waiting until you find one.

If nothing else, you could always sub-let to another person. Then you would have a lease with them if they failed to pay their share of the rent and bills so that the expenses came back on you. Check your state laws to see how you could do this.

You can only get your name off, if who ever else is on the lease agrees to it. It will only effect your credit if you just up and leave without taking your name off, as the other person could sue you for the remaining amount of the rent for however many months are left. Although I doubt the apartment place will really care if you leave or not as long as someone pays.

You need to go to the manager of the apartments and ask for your name to be removed. If the manager agrees, all is good. But if he does not, then you are still responsible for the rent and any damages, and yes that could affect your credit rating.

It depends on the laws in your state as well as what the lease says. You should look up your states Landlord Tenant Act and see what it says.

Only if the other leasee agrees with it. Once you sign a lease that's that. And yes, if your friend decided not to pay rent or what not, it would hurt you.

yes it effects ur credit so if u want it removed then go and remove it bc if they mess it up then since u cosigned it will come back on u
