always tell people who question or disagree with the government to "leave"? "If you don't like it here, then leave!" I see this all the time, I saw it again right now (hence my question). Has no one ever criticized their parents, but still love them? Being critical or disagreeing with the government doesn't equal hating America, for heaven's sake. Anyway, it's not that easy to leave your country and become a citizen of another country, so any Americans that did want to leave probably, realistically, wouldn't be able to. can't we disagree at times and still love our country?

When people dissagree with you it takes far less effort to be rude and sarcastic and say things like "why don't you just leave" than it would to try to defend their position on the subject. It's pure laziness/ignorance. Don't let it get to you.

Of course, we can. Still, there are some that hate everything the US does and all its leaders, as well as thinking the majority of Americans are idiots (or at least say that here). At what point do they become the idiot for staying somewhere they think is evil? (I mean evil) You don't have to become a citizen of the other country, you can just be a resident or ex-patriot.
Still, this is very much a minority of the population. Most Rep and Dems disagree without being hateful and casting judgement that the entire country is evil and always has been. Yahoo.answers is hardly a representation of the US public.

Maybe because that is their opinion. They are entitled to ask you to leave if you don't agree with or like the current issues in the U.S. Just as you are entitled to assume you can criticize your parents and still love them.
I suspect though that if you criticized you parents the way many people here criticize the government they would eventually tell you to leave too....

I suppose it's easier to say "love it or leave it" than it is to actually think and debate using actual facts.
I think we can trust, though, that when such people are not aligned with the party in power, their message will radically change.

yes you can and you have the right to disagree with the govt.,but some of the questions and comments are so asinine it makes people react vocally in the harsh way.

Oh my God, I think I'm going to have a coronary. A person who actually said something that made sense.
Thank you.
