Lena's grandparents live in Santorini, I think somewhere near the Caldera (she spends time painting and sketching the view of the Caldera).

Santorini apart from Caldera is very famous for its magnificent sunsets and its colourful beaches (such as the beach of Perissa, maybe the best beach in Santorini, the black pebble beach of Kamari, White beach and Red beach). It's also one of the most famous tourists destinations.

It is so hard to choose just three more interesting places to visit in Greece, because there are so many of them!!! I guess that one should under no circumnstances exclude the Parthenon from his or her list, and perhaps try one of the "off the beaten tracks destinations" (aka Cyclades, and the rest of Greek islands) such as Meteora, or Olympos mountain.

The most famous part of Greece is the capital Athens. Lena goes to Santorini, Greece.

Athens or Crete is most popular. I would visit Santorini or Crete because I have been to Athens. Yes Santorini is the place where Lena's Grandparents lived. You should read all the books, they are even better.

I have not seen the movie, but the best places to visit except Athens are Santorini in the Aegean Sea and Cephallonia in the Ionian Sea, off the West coast.
These are two completely different places, landscapes, beaches, people, weather, architecture, cuisine, mentality...
I recommend you to avoid Hotels with all inclusive programs and prefer instead rent rooms which are much more cheap and you have interaction with local people...
Enjoy yourself!

While I was in Greece, I visited Athens, Santorini, and Mykonos. Well worth the trip, they were all absolutely breathtaking. The people are inviting and the scenery is wonderful.

I'd recommend Santorini and Rhodes. Both very different in look, feel, and culture, but all a lot of fun and interesting.
