I check the soil in my cactus pot and if it's totally dry and the soil is almost sandy, then I give it a deep watering. I don't water it again until it is completely dried out. This can be once a month or once every few months. Just remember to water your cactus with water that is lukewarm or room temperature. If you water your cactus with very cold tap water it could cause some plant shock. I hope this helps!!!

It kinda depends on the size of the cactus and if its in a pot or in the ground. If its in a pot and in some good cactus soil, a good general rule is to water it on the zeros of each month...the 10, 20, and 30. And not just a few drops, water it like you would if it was any other kind of plant. Its really easy to remember that too. If the cactus is in the ground, then once a month is sufficient. Water tends to stay in the ground longer than in a pot because it runs out of a pot so easily. Also some other good info, fertilze it once per month with any generic all purpose fertilzer like Miricle Gro or Peters but only to one half strength and only during the summer months. Never fertilze during the winter as this is it dormant period. Hope this helps.

you most likely water your cactus too a lot. cactus do not choose a lot water, that's why they improve in the nice and cozy, humid dry climate. look on the cactus that improve in the desolate tract. they don't get a lot water,in simple terms even as it rain. attempt to water even as the soil is dry, that's probably about 3-4 days. perhaps you ought to target to water them once a week....

It rains 1 week out of the year in Arizona. That's about right. Too much water will cause mold on the roots. NEVER more than once a month.

I had one that got pushed to the back of the tv in my son's room, and it didn't get found for about 6 months and it was fine! so, if you forget, don't sweat it. maybe we had a lucky cactus, but before we lost track of it, we watered it every month.

When the soil is dry, then give it a good watering. They naturally hold water, so don't over do it. However, they need it to show off those gorgeous flowers, so don't let them get too dry.
