ronboy's got it right. It's a line from "Most Outrageous TV" on NBC tonight. It was showing a clip from Hollywood Squares in which a star (I forget who) gave that answer.

Ok, OK, the scientific answer is that the non-reproductive female bees are the workers. But that's not nearly as funny!

Worker bees. They do all the work of collecting the nectar and making honey. The males (drones) are only used for reproducing.

Dead. There is only one female. The queen. When she is about to die she has a girl egg and special drones take care of her until she hatches. If the queens not dead when the girl egg hatces the new queen kill the old one.
