... well... the problem is... if you don't tote the Bush party line... everyone automatically assumes your a crazy liberal regardless of what you actually believe...
there are many people, even inside the republican party (not to mention those that aren't affiliated with any party), dislike Bush...
everything is not black and white...

Guilty as charged but I must say I try to be decisive...it is when I hear a completely biased opinion that I reach for the "party favors."

Probably the same reason we only have two viable parties in the US. Let's face it, the poiticians prefer a highly polarized, mindless, bashing constituency; they are far easier to control than people who think.

My goodness, all you wanted was an intellectual simple answer and the liberals of course stepped up to the plate immediately with the Bush Bashing. It's amazing...truly amazing. I have to commend the media, they have done one heck of job.

AwwwwRight!!!! .... somebody finally asked to hear from us Political Moderates......
"We Political Moderates are very diverse...
Some Moderates identify as Republicans, some as Democrats, and some have no particular political identity. Some of us don't pay much attention to politics, but others are Senators and sometimes even Presidents....we will vote for someone in the other party in a heartbeat if we like their values.... Some of us think of ourselves as quite traditional and conservative...Some of us are very religious, some less so, some not at all. We are not in your face about these things, and we do not want you in our faces. Some of us own guns, and some of us do not. The ones who own guns do not think everyone needs to have one, and the ones that do not are not trying to have their neighbor's guns taken away. We moderates are suspicious of certainty. We can have strong political opinions, but we are willing to listen to someone else's point of view as long as they are not trying to ram it down our throats or snooker us. We are proud of our Country but think that it is perfectly OK for people in other countries to be proud of theirs. We are not particularly interested in seeing America dominate the world. We believe neither in squeezing every bit of economic value out of the land as quickly as possible, nor banning all development everywhere. We do not particularly like people telling us that we have to do something or cannot do something, but we also know that giving free reign to anything anyone wants to do is a recipe for disaster. We have no problem at all with mandates or limits when the balance is right. We are fiscal conservatives in the older meaning of the phrase, from when being conservative meant not running up huge debts. We believe that there is a place for moderation in American politics. In fact, we think that Moderation is America's greatest political tradition. We assign the title Great to Presidents who exemplified balance, moderation, and tolerance, Presidents like Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt and Dwight Eisenhower. We do not like people from either extreme of the political spectrum to put words in our mouths. We do not yell at them when they try this, but we might just laugh at them behind their backs! Moderates do not band together for political conventions, party headquarters, mass mailings, buttons with faces on them, lawn signs, or fund-raising calls at dinnertime. For one thing, we are too busy living our lives to spend time coming up with these things. And we really do not need them. Extremists from both sides of the spectrum assume that Moderates are sheep to be led around by the nose, right up to the point when we surprise them by being smarter than they think."

the political machine has split the country in half. they have put us into categories and have made the people choose between two agendas that they invented and we fall for it.
