not anyone can cut a diamond, to achieve the correct brilliance, as to obtain the better shapes possible, the man in charge of cutting such a stone has to have the heart of a true artist, the knowledge of a very advanced mathematician, and the sense of proportion of a great architect

Maybe.

I find that well cut diamonds are beautiful to look at and require an artisan's hand, but they don't really do much on their own. If a gem cutter is also creating their own jewelry, then they should sped just as much time and effort on the rest of the piece.
