they constrict. like if your arm got cut off all nerves and arteries to the once attached arm will constrict/collapse and slow blood and pain information.

unfortunately the magic arterial constriction work only in clean complete amputations or arterial severings, partial severings do not induce this life saving effect and people have died from less severe injuries.

they constrict because of contraction of muscles in the arterial wall
