I have a Chevy 350, with 35lbs of oil pressure cold, then when it gets warm it drops to 8lbs of oil pressure. What are some things that cause low oil pressure?

Loose Tolerances

GM is famous for leaving things looser in their engines
They like high volume and low oil pressure systems

Other manufactures like close tolerance engines with high oil pressures

anyone will tell you that GM engines are cheaper to rebuild - but they wear out quicker

You may have bearings that are about worn out and will need replacing soon
As your engine heats up the metal expands and creates bigger openings
and at the same tome the oil heats up and thins out causing it to flow faster

Hence the drop on warm up

wore out engine or a weak oil pump but with what your describing sounds like the engine is in dire need of an over haul it has presure but falls off when the engine warms up there are different types of oil pumps as well high presure or high volume i would go with a high volume probablly with a new rebuild

could be a weak oil pump. It could be sludge partially blocking the oil pickup screen. Did you actually measure this pressure or are you reading from the dash.

Your crank shaft bearings might be worn out, making it loose pressure, or your oil pump screen may be dirty, or a weak oil pump, check these, it wont hurt. Good luck
