Pears become ripe after the first frost of the season. Pears that have fallen to the ground are truly ripe and should be used first or the Yellow Jackets will have a feast on them.

After the first frost of the year is the said time to pick them.You will want to feel them for it will seem the skin gets soft and the core is still hard.Hope I have helped you.

just as they turn sl yellow on one side. Then they will continue to ripen.Dont let them get to yellow or they will fall off the tree and get bruised.
