I live on a boat and space is always an issue . I use a laptop for simple computer tasks and internet . Is there a way to use it as a sort of mothership to hook a flatscreen and keyboard to it ? Thanks for your suggestions .

Go wireless, and put a shelf up to stick the laptop on so your monitor cord reaches the back of the laptop. You can drive a monitor off the back of your laptop, and keyboards and mice are available in wireless these days, as is internet.

You will probably need to alter power settings so the hibernate doesn't come on when the laptop lid is closed. Good luck.

Yes, its super easy. Your mothership will just need a flatscreen to hook up to it and an S-video oulet. A keyboard is easy too with with USB cables. You can go wireless for the keyboard and use a wireless mouse as suggested. You just have to change the power options like mentioned. It should real easy to hook up and set up. Good luck with it. I suggest getting a cooler for your laptop though because more things will be hooked up to it, you'll be passing more electricity through it and it will got a lot hotter.
