why did you decide to major in math? do you think that the ability to succeed as a math major is innate...or can anyone with a reasonably high level of intelligence do well in it if they have the desire to work hard? i am just wondering because i am considering going back to university and i remember liking my math classes, even though i didn't do well in them because i was un-motivated. but now that i'm more motivated to go back to school and work hard, i'm wondering if math is for me. i really want to succeed at whatever i do! how do i know if i will succeed in math?

Liking math is a great start; being motivated to succeed is the right path. I too like math, and, with motivation, I have recieved high grades in all my math classes thus far. The expression that states success is 90% persperation and 10% inspiration is certainly true for math success. Try math out, the higher you go the more you like it (Trigonometry is fun).

I am not a math major, but I LOVE math. That is my favorite subject, and I am currently in Geometry... more with shapes, but I can't wait for Algebra 2 and Calculus. I have always been good at it, and being about to suceed keeps me motivated.
