I'm writing a story. I need some help finding information on Chinese culture in 1570 (mainly concerning fishing and merchants) and mythology concerning the realm of the dead. I've looked for the information I need, but it's been rather confusing.

Thanks for your help.

Mainly the mythology is confusing. There are so many deities to sort through that I'm unsure of what to put in to make the story as realistic as possible. Any help with common deities and which ones are involved with the realm of the dead (or the Ghost Festival) would be appreciated.

You have to understand that Chinese mythology is a mixture of totally different belief's, Now depending on what kind of mythology you are looking for perhaps you should just pick one area and write all that you can from that and believe me when I say it will fill your pages up ok................................

it would be a Fu canine. Fu canine have been father or mom spirits used to guard temples and different significant homes. they do no longer seem to be demigods or regularly dragon proper yet somewhat minor spirits.
