I went to guitar center to get my first hollowbody guitar, I tried many, but the gretsch chet atkins was my favorate guitar. I decided that I wanted to buy it, I looked at the price tag, I did not want to spend $2800. I looked online and found 2 gretsch in my range. the tennessee rose and the country club. are these like the chet atkins, for $1000 is it worth giving up the name? which is better?

I'd let my finger's and ear's do the deciding! Which won't be so easy online, but don't buy anything unless ya play it first! Good luck!

Country Club is an excellent instrument. Believe George Harrison played one for the longest time.
