I already have an mp3 player, but I really want the video capabilities so I can watch the shows I've missed. I'm sure I can probably find a cheaper way to do that. Any ideas?

Ipod are pretty cool. But if your only going to buy it so you can watch shows you missed. I wouldn't buy one for that reason.
There are more effective and cheaper way to catch shows you missed. One you can pre program a show, if you know your not going to be around to watch it, with your VCR, if you have dvd recorder or even Tivo.
Another way would be to go to Youtube.com and see if someone uploaded an episodes of a show you missed. But you'll need to know the name of it in order to find out, but that should be too hard to find if you look at a TV Guide.
While itunes does have it where you can download it, it does cost 1.99 per episode and you can only watch the episode on a very small screen.
Hope this helps you out. And keep in mind that most shows do reair their episodes at later dates.

Well you can download iTunes for free, pay the $2 on watch the video on your PC.
I have an older iPod so that is what I do, If you go to iTunes now, one of the shows has the 1st in the series that you can download for free, try it and see if it works to your satisfaction.
You will need a credit card number for it though.
My iPod useage is probaby is about 3 hours a day, I use it when I work out, when I drive, when I house clean. It is great, I get to hear the music I want not the music the radio wants me to hear.
I also do not have to deal with hundreds of CD to organize and put away.

you could try setting a timer so that your tv will automatically record the shows to a dvd or vhs tape... but it really depends on how much you would use an ipod and how good the mp3 player you have now is... if it is an older mp3 player and its quality has gone down considerably then by all means get an ipod... but if it is still good why waste your money now, when you can wait for the prices to reduce some and then get one in the future if you still want it?

totally worth it for the cool factor. Battery life sucks though

oh yah especially in long trips. make sure u get a rapid battery charger off ebay too.
