Paper. I need a type of paper. Does it have to be the same type of paper my other seatmates uses? My friend said that it has to be on a college ruled paper with 3 holes on the sides, but she's studying in highschool so I dont know if it applies with colllege.

Just so long as your professor can read it, he probably won't care. I usually turn in homework on what's properly called "filler paper" (lined, three hole punched, about the size of normal printer paper), or depending what it is I'll type it up and turn it in on printer paper. If I don't have any filler paper around, I'll just tear a page out of my notebook and write my homework on that. When I do that I usually tear off the bit with the holes from the spiral binding, but that's just because I'm something of a perfectionist. When I took a couple summer classes in Ireland, I turned all my homework in on American paper, which is noticably smaller than standard European paper, and no one cared.
College (narrow) v. wide ruled doesn't matter at all. It's just a matter of which you prefer to write on. Personally, I despise wide-ruled paper, but that's just me, and I assure you that my professors couldn't care less which I use. If you want to turn it in on plain white paper (like printer paper or whatever), graph paper, hole punched or not, white, yellow, purple, they really don't care. Ultimately, the reason they didn't tell you what kind of paper to use is that they don't care!

Do it on a separate paper too. In case you have to hand it in. Put your name and the class time on it too so it doesn't get lost.
Usually in college, it's whatever paper you feel comfortable using, unless it's specified. If you write big, use wide-rule paper. If you write small and neat and the problems have a lot of work, use the college-rule paper.
This is NOT a stupid question. Look at the question below yours. Now, THAT is a stupid question.

Look at the syllabus. I would think that you could write it legibly on paper if it was not made clear in class. You could type it to be sure. However, it depends on the assignment. What class is it anyway?

If it's homework, you will need to give it to your professor. Just tear the page or pages our of your notebook. If the homework is a writing assignment, you may want to do it on your computer and print it to turn it in.

We use the phrases "do your homework" "I did my homework", "I need to do my homework." etc. We never say "Write my homework." We would say "Write a term paper". This it true both in spoken and written english.

write it on loose leaf paper so you can turn it in. If he want you to write it on something else he will correct you when you turn it in.
