Why do I have to pick only one favorite band? I happen to listen to lots of them at different times. Does it have to be a band or can it just be an individual artist? Anything by Guster or Counting Crows is great. Death Cab for Cutie is pretty good. Toad the Wet Sprocket was excellent until they split. The Wallflowers are cool. The Old 97's and the cranberries I like. The Clarks are a great Pittsburgh band. Paul Kelly and the Messengers are good. You can't go wrong when driving at midnight listening to James. How many can I name?

I like a lot of different music, but I just can't stand rap or heavy metal.

I like Fleetwood Mac, Norah Jones, all big-band, Gin Blossoms, Iron Butterfly, Boston, Blue Oyster Cult, Dire Straights, etc.

Pearl Jam. I first started liking them when I heard their song Black. I related to it because I was going through a hard break up with my girlfriend at the time. Since then I have listened to them religiously because I can relate to the angst that Eddie Vedder writes about it.

I have also seen the live in concert on several occasions and they rock. I was also lucky enough to meet Eddie Vedder while the played in New Orleans several years ago. He was a great guy who was really down to earth. He took the time to talk to me and other fans as we had a drink at a bar in the Quarter.

I also like the fact that Pearl Jam has always stayed true to their convictions. They fought Ticket Master over what they thought was price gauging on ticket prices. They were one of the first bands to speak out against the was in Iraq before it became popular to do so.

Mason Jennings. He's so uniquely original, yet he makes you feel like you've known the music all your life, sort of comforting ya know? He is an AMAZING performer, and his live shows are not to be missed! He has a lot to say, and an eloquent and somtimes humorous ways of saying it. His songs aren't just songs, they're stories with many underlying meanings. I have a friend who I discuss Mason's songs with quite regularly, and it's always a great topic. We get completely different things out of each song but all interpretations make you think. Mason Jennings is amazing.

Ani Difranco...she's not a band but she is simply amazing. She says what I only wish I could say. She can kick someones a$$ and then wipe away their tears in the same song. Her voice is amazing and she is by far the best female guitarist in the world.

FFTL, has been my favorite band since their first EP Aesthetic came out. They're lyrically amazing, seriously some of their songs get me through tough times. The first singer and the current singer's voices are both fantastic. When they sing it sounds sincere, not just like random words and a right pitch. I seriously love them..

Paramore-

This band consists of four guys but has a girl fronting, and singing lead vocals. I like them so much because this isn't a very common thing, and because she really is an amazing singer.

The band, although not very well known, has a lot of great songs, songwriting skill, and promising talent. You should really check them out. =]
