W3Schools.com has a ton of useful information.
My advise is to not use godaddy. They market it as the easiest and best way to go but if you really want to play around do a quick search on Google/Yahoo for 'shared host' and find a service that [a] is cheap [b] has php, mysql and FTP support.
Once you start to learn the basics you'll find that the godaddy 'hosting' really doesn't cut it and will hamper your growth.
Best of luck!

The w3c is a great source of information, unfortunately it can be dry at times. If you want a fun yet informative way to learn HTML and perhaps later on move to more advanced web programming visit http://www.webmonkey.com it has the right combination of humor and useful information that will keep you focused and moving along the learning process. One more thing, HTML is great for beginners because you can use many easy shortcut type hacks but if you are serious about design give XHTML a try it's not much harder but it forces you to learn the right way from the beginning, and if you really want to knock people's socks off with your designs give CSS a try as well, you won't be disappointed. (shameless plug: I will be adding some cool tutorials to my web consulting site very soon http://www.ponosdesign.com but for now check out the soon to be released layout at http://www.tonybartolini.com/Ponos_Design ) I also agree completely with the previous posting about godaddy.

As already reported, you will get alongside with out understanding in html, because of the fact cutting-part WYSIWYG editors make it fairly undemanding, yet in basic terms approximately none of them is genuinely suitable. besides, some editors are fairly versatile and permit get entry to to the code, for this reason some html information might help understand your internet site from interior. No hazards - html is the muse. CSS is a bonus.
