Tucson calling...the liberal bastion of Arizona. (Flagstaff too, but they're more the tree-hugger types). Sucks to be a conservative-leaning independant here. Our motto in the summer is "At least we're not Phoenix!!" (where it's often another 10 degrees hotter) Landscape here is "upper Sonoran desert" which is lush by desert standards. While the city is mostly flat and not very pretty, we're surrounded by beautiful mountains up to 9000 feet elevation. We're only 60 miles north of Mexico so it influences the culture greatly...I like it. It's also a great place for people who love outdoor activities (as is all of Arizona).
